My name is Ronnie Kadykowski, and Mr. George Eichorn is the sponsor who supported my joining the DSBA. I have been a student member of the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association since 2005, during my Sophomore year in high school.
I am currently a Junior at the University of Notre Dame where I am pursuing a major in Film, Television, & Theatre, a major in Marketing, and a minor in the Gallivan Program for Journalism. In addition to my academic pursuits, I am also a member of the track and field team at Notre Dame (ND), where I compete in sprints, primarily the 200 and 400 meters. In 2009 and 2010, I was nominated for the Big East Conference Academic All-Stars in track and field.
Since my Freshman year in college, I have been the correspondent for ESPNU Campus Connection at ND. I have done volunteer work for Palestra.net and ND Sports Properties. I work as a reporter for Palestra.net net and I have done play-by-play announcing and color commentary for volleyball and lacrosse games with ND Sports Properties.
Also, I am a part of the NDtv Club for students, where I have been the regular sports anchor for NDtv news since my Freshman year. While being the sports anchor for NDtv, I have had the honor of covering the Shirt Unveiling ceremony for the upcoming football season the past two years, created the “Irish Tailgating Show” (which covers pre-game festivities at football games), and much more.
I graduated from Detroit Catholic Central High School in 2008, where I was Class President my Junior and Senior years. While at CC, I founded the CC Radio Club (with help and advisement from Mr. Eichorn and Mr. Bill Keith), which continues to be involved in Internet streaming of sports broadcasts. Other experience I have had has been as Master of Ceremonies at my graduation, as well as at the 2007, 2008, and 2009 Catholic Youth Organization Championship Track Meets. I have been a Public Address Announcer for the MHSAA Lacrosse State Regionals in 2009 and Semi-Finals 2008 & 2009. I was listed in the Novi News as one of Catholic Central’s top 10 graduates for 2008. In 2008, I won the Joe Pascuzzi Award, which is given to the year’s top student-athlete for track in the Catholic League.
