Roger Faulkner

Roger Faulkner has been a DSBA member for many years. He’s chairman of the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame and commissioner of the Detroit Youth Sports and Recreation Commission. He began his broadcasting career covering soccer and tennis for J.P. McCarthy on WJR-AM in 1970. Roger has done tennis play-by-play and analysis for PASS Sports, Eurosport and SportsChannel America. His soccer broadcasting includes play-by-play and analysis for ESPN, WJR, PASS and WKBD-TV (Ch. 50), and he’s served as U.S. soccer correspondent for the BBC World Service. Roger began promoting soccer in 1968 and brought Pele and the New York Cosmos to the Silverdome in 1976. In 1977, Faulkner founded the Detroit Express of the NASL, and brought star players such as Trevor Francis to the franchise. Roger was a key member of the Detroit World Cup Host Committee.  He has brought several tennis events to our area and was captain of his London University team. Roger ranked #6 in England as a junior. Roger is employed now with Merrill Lynch in Bloomfield Hills.  We salute Roger Faulkner for his many contributions to the DSBA! Reach him at:
