Leo Martin

Leo Martin is our longest continuous serving Member of the DSBA, and Honoray Lifetime Member (voted in 2012).  Leo joined the organization in 1958 under the Presidency of Van Patrick and Dwight Eisenhower.  He built Motor City Speedway Dragway.  Leo helped put on the Motorcross at the Pontiac Silverdome for 31 years.  He was instrumental with the Spirit of Detroit boat races on the Detroit River.  He was involved in drag boats in Oxford, Michigan, go-cart races and assisted in the opening of the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan.  Leo’s name is connected with many demolition derbys plus many thrill shows in the Pontiac Silverdome.  His back ground also includes a term on the NASCAR Board of Directors.  He still wishes that sometime soon the Detroit Sportcasters would start up their dinner dance which was a huge success.  Leo and Teddy are the proud parents of five children.  Leo is a Michigan Football Alum.  Reach him at: Leof.martin@yahoo.com
