Frank Beckmann

The Ty Tyson Award For Excellence in Sports Broadcasting in 2009 went to Frank Beckmann, WJR Radio & U-M Football. Frank is an Active Member of the DSBA. He is host of The Frank Beckmann Show heard weekdays 9-11:30 a.m. on WJR-AM 760 and the play-by-play voice of the Michigan Wolverines Football team, as heard on WOMC-FM and CKLW-AM. Detroit’s hometown personality, Frank Beckmann brings his 35 years of broadcasting experience and his easy, laid-back humor to WJR listeners every morning. Frank continues the tradition of more interviews, more celebrities, more business coverage and more sports with a style that his fans have come to know and love. Frank’s level of curiosity makes him a great listener and an even better host. Not only are the listeners fans, but so is the Michigan Association of Broadcasters whom have recently awarded the Frank Beckmann Show -Best Midday Personality 2007, Broadcast Personality/Team of the Year 2006 and Best 2006 News Special: 9/11 Anniversary broadcast From New York City. Frank was also cited by the Detroit Press Club Foundation as a 2007 Michigan Excellence in Journalism winner. Additionally, Frank was also a 2007 Michigan Sports Hall of Fame inductee for his brilliant play-by-play and sportscasting work.
