OVERVIEW:

The staff assistant will assist in all operations of the Office of Athletic Communications and will be directly responsible for working with several sports, in addition to supervising students on other sport assignments. The individual will also assist with game day duties at athletic events and aid in creating content and help furthering develop the initiatives in new/social media and multimedia on the department’s official website, www.msuspartans.com. Other duties as assigned by Associate Athletics Director/Communications.

Bachelor’s degree with a MINIMUM of two years experience as a sports information/athletic communications student assistant or intern (undergraduate or graduate); excellent writing and editing skills; computer knowledge (word processing, statistical programs, desktop publishing); must be able to manage multiple tasks. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate sound judgment and discretion with sensitive information regarding student-athletes, university staff, and the Athletic Department. The MSU Athletic Communications office uses Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Stat Crew Software, and CBS College Sports’ Netitor program; previous experience with these programs is preferred.

Additional Salary Information:

A nine-month, hourly contract for approximately $12,500 (selected candidate will not work more than 28 hours weekly on average during the length of the entire contract); no fringe benefits will be provided for this position. Hours include some nights, weekends and Holidays. There will be occasional opportunities to work additional events for extra pay
